Diagnostic Testing

Skin Prick Testing

Skin prick testing is done to determine IgE allergic antibody presence to an environmental allergy or a food. Trees, grasses, weeds, molds, dust mites, pets, and many foods are available for testing.

Full Pulmonary Function Tests

Full Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT) measure lung capacity and airflow to assess the severity of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and other respiratory conditions. These tests help determine how well your lungs are functioning and guide treatment.

We provide an advanced version of this test not available in most offices.

Penicillin / Amoxicillin

Penicillin/Amoxicillin drug testing is used to assess whether a patient has an allergy to antibiotics.

This test involves skin prick testing, intradermal testing, and an oral challenge to the antibiotic.

Stinging Insect Testing

Stinging insect venom testing is done by a combination of skin prick testing, intradermal testing, and blood testing.

Oxygen Saturation Testing

Oxygen saturation testing measures the amount of oxygen in your blood to assess lung function and detect conditions like asthma or COPD.

This test helps ensure that your body is receiving enough oxygen for optimal health.

Chemical Patch Testing

Patch testing for chemicals is used to diagnose contact dermatitis by applying small amounts of potential allergens to the skin to observe any allergic reactions.

This test helps identify sensitivities to chemicals, fragrances, and other substances. This test requires multiple visits.

Food Allergy Challenges

Food allergy challenges involve carefully monitored exposure to suspected food allergens to prove a patient has outgrown the food allergy.

These challenges are typically done in a controlled medical setting to ensure safety and accurate results.

Laboratory/Blood Tests

Laboratory/blood tests help identify specific allergens or immune system markers to diagnose allergic conditions and immunodeficiencies.

These tests can measure levels of IgE antibodies and other immune-related substances.

Personalized Treatment

Allergy Shots

Allergy shots, or immunotherapy, involve regular injections of small amounts of allergens to help the immune system build tolerance over time, reducing allergic reactions.

This long-term treatment can significantly improve symptoms for many individuals with allergies.

Prescription Medications

Prescription medications are used to manage allergy and asthma symptoms. These medications help control inflammation, reduce allergy triggers, and provide relief from severe reactions.

Stinging Insect Immunotherapy

Stinging insect immunotherapy involves regular injections of small amounts of venom to help the immune system build tolerance over time, reducing allergic reactions. Bee, Yellow Jacket, Hornet, Paper Wasp, and Fire Ant treatments are available.

This long-term treatment can be life-saving. It may be required for life.

Immunoglobulin Replacement

Patients with Primary Immune Deficiency require immunoglobulin replacement. We apply for and supervise the choice of immunoglobulin replacement therapy.

These are blood products and only highly skilled experts should be managing these treatments.

Biologics

Biologics are advanced medications requiring significant effort to obtain and a high level of skill to utilize.

Dr. Stryk teaches and advises other physicians all over the country about the use of biologics in multiple conditions including asthma, COPD, nasal polyps, hives, eczema, hereditary angioedema, EGPA, HES, EOE, and other conditions.

Aspirin Desensitization

Aspirin desensitization is a treatment for patients with aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD), where gradual exposure to aspirin helps reduce sensitivity and manage symptoms.

This procedure is done under medical supervision to safely improve tolerance.
