Important Message About Medications

*** IMPORTANT NOTICE ***

IF TAKING ANY MEDICATION FOR SWELLING OR HIVES,
DO NOT STOP TAKING!!

Antihistamines and Drugs That May Affect Testing:

Name of Medication Length of time to be off
All regular antihistamines, antihistamine/decongestant combinations, OTC (over the counter) cold/cough preparations. Sleep aids like Tylenol pm or Excedrin pm 48 hours
Allegra/Allegra D, Astelin Nose Spray, Optivar Eye Drops 4 days
Claritin/Claritin D/Claritin D-24, Alavert, Loratadine, Clarinex 7 days
Zyrtec/Zyrtec D, Zantac, Atarax, Marax, Vistaril, Periactin, Axid, Tagamet 5 days
Emadine Eye Drops 3 days
For Example:
If your appointment is on a Thursday, and the length of time to be off the medication you are taking is 4 days, take your last dose on the Saturday before your appointment.
